The 2016 wedding season was kicked off with the amazing New Orleans Elopement of Shelby and Aaron. They tied the knot on March 20th under the Tree of Life in Audubon Park, it was perfectly magical with the sun shining through the limbs of the tree and surrounded by twenty or so of their closest family and friends.
Shelby and Aaron arrived to NOLA a few days before me to get their marriage license setup, but when I flew in on Saturday I had a mild panic at the amount of rain and flooded areas! I was hoping that their day would not be ruined by Mother Nature! The day of the ceremony though was just spectacular, while a bit cool (its is Spring after all!) we had blue skies, puffy clouds and sunshine! The grass had dried out and everything was perfect.
They both got ready at the rental house near Audubon Park, but in separate areas of course! Shelby had her hair and makeup professionally done by Glam Nola on location before putting on her stunning ModCloth wedding dress. Shelby’s flowers were very unique with lots of green with pops of color by Leaf + Petal. Aaron wore a classic suit by Combatant Gentleman with chess cufflinks, which he also gifted to his best man. The guys spent their down time waiting for the ladies to get ready by playing chess in the living room, one of their favorite pastimes.
After their first look and portrait session we headed to The Tree of Life for their simple, but stunning ceremony and then it was time for dinner and music at The Maison on Frenchman St. Such yummy, classic NOLA food and great music! My only regret is that my very tired pregnant self didn’t get to stay to enjoy it all.
It was great to photograph Shelby and Aarons wedding, Shelby is such an amazing friends and to be a part of her day in such a big role is an honor. I wish these two a lifetime of happiness!
