There’s something magical about a girl and her horse, and Kendall’s belated equine senior session with her 18-hand Percheron, Jett, was no exception. Equine senior session are such a unique way to celebrate the bond between rider and horse, and this session was extra special because Kendall didn’t have the chance to include Jett in her original senior photos. It was high time to fix that, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to make it happen.

Kendall and Jett have an incredible bond. You can see it in the way she talks to her, the way she responds to her, and the trust they share. Jett is a gentle giant, towering at 18 hands, but her calm demeanor and affection for Kendall are so heartwarming. Together, they’re quite the pair—a combination of strength, grace, and undeniable connection.

We did the session at the barn where Kendall boards Jett, which also happens to be where I keep my own horses. It felt like the perfect setting, surrounded by familiar pastures, the comforting scent of hay, and the occasional whinny from nearby stalls. The weather was stunning—blue skies dotted with fluffy clouds and just the right amount of sunshine to make everything glow.

Kendall shows Jett at the LaPorte County 4-H Fair draft show each summer, and it’s clear they’ve put in a lot of hard work together. Capturing them in their element was a privilege. We took a mix of posed shots and candid moments: Kendall leaning on Jett’s sturdy frame, walking with her through the paddock, and laughing as she nuzzled her shoulder. Jett was a natural in front of the camera, and Kendall’s joy was infectious.

These equine senior session aren’t just about capturing a moment in time; they’re about celebrating the journey Kendall and Jett have shared. Whether it’s in the show ring or just hanging out at the barn, their connection is something truly special. I’m so glad we could make this session happen and give Kendall the memories she’ll treasure for years to come.
